• Figures from Nielsen Sports show that interest in Formula 1 has increased by 5.7 percent since 2021. 41 percent of the total fan base consists of women, where the largest growing group is women between 16-24 years.
• Despite the growing interest, only two women have competed in Formula 1. Maria Teresa de Filippis who competed in 1958-1959 and Lella Lobardi who competed between 1974-1976.
• So why has the interest in Formula 1 increased so much in recent years? And why are there no women competing in Formula 1?
