On International Women’s Day, the Schlager season went to the finish. But despite the fact that more women competed in the final, it was still between a bunch of men – veteran Måns Zelmerlöw and Finnish -Swedish trio quay.
The fact that it finally became a Finnish -Swedish spex number that can represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel in May is a bang – even though they were tipped to finish second.
This means that Sweden, for the first time in many years, dares to bid on itself in the Eurovision Song Contest. In recent decades, it has become Swedish tradition to send in well -turned and serious pop numbers, which often place themselves high in the competition. Therefore, the choice of quay shakes about the order.
As expected, the jury groups wanted Måns Zelmerlöw to win. It did not want the Swedish people, and this time it became crucial. Perhaps a cross -border happiness pill is exactly what is needed in these turbulent times. Now it remains to be seen how Bastusång is doing in front of a European multi -million audience.
Sex joke season
Otherwise, the final offered a high low level. Regardless of whether it was tragic and child -friendly or self -disclosure and vulnerable. Just as a good melody festival final should be – mixed.
And speaking of trams. The program duo Keyyo and Edvin Törnblom have kept the banner high for six weeks. In addition to excellent matching each other’s energy, together with the production, they have also managed to be notified to the Review Board unusually many times – not least for sex jokes. Is it due to an increasingly sensitive audience or a more daring script? Maybe both and. Either way, it is welcomed that this year’s production has not been afraid to sniff at boundaries. It is required to enroll in the schlager history.
The hat off to anyone who dared this melody festival season.
