While Her Company, Home & Company Real Estate Corp Brokerage, Had Receed Stratford & District Chamber of Trade Business Excellence Awards in the Past, Including its 2020 Innovation Award, Dewever was shocked to be Named the Winner of the Chamber’s 2024 Business Award, Give PROCESS INVOLVED IN THE SELECTION.
“When Shannon (Stewart) from the Chamber and Aaron (Martin) Shared this With Me, I was Stunned, Totally Surprise, Incredibly Honoured, and Actually a Little Bit Overwhelmed,” Dewever Said.
As a previous member of the chamber awards selection committee, included a number of years as its flesh, dewever said she had an invalcable opportunity to the more about local business and what made them successful.

(I thought) I WOULD ENJOY Working in Real Estate and Maybe Doing A BETTER Job Than What We Had Experienced in our Transaction, “Dewever Said.

“So that was just kind of intriguing to me, and so I got my real estate license, and that was out of what attractive me (to the field),” she added.
After Getting Her License, Dewever Started With Hiller Realty Before Moving to Coldwell Banker, where she spent 17 years. The Idea for Starting Her Own Company – A Decision that was about A Year and a Half in the Making – Came Out of A Desire to Avoid the Comlacency That She Said Had Crept Into the Profession. She finalized that decision after conversations over coffee with some of her peers.
“I WOULD SAY I WAS AT A CROSSROADS IN MY CAREER AND, LOOKING FORWARD, THINKING I STILL HAVE SOME YEARS AHEAD OF ME. (I Thought) ‘Do I Maybe Pivot and Take a Challenge, Rather Than Stay where I and Risk Becoming Complence Myyself?’ At that point, i though ‘let’s just explore this. Let’s Take It One Step at a time and see where leads, ‘”Dewever Said.

Founded in 2013, Home & Company has been very successful, tathing the large market share in terms of Sales Volume in Stratford Over the Past Two Years. While She and Her Employees “don need to scream from the rooftops” about their accomplishments, Dewever does Credit Her Team for that Nail Nail Success.
“Everybody who works with me are full-time top-producing realtors who are very focused on our company’s mission, and i think that the fact that we are a local Brokerage. . . has resonated with people, ”she said.
She has also been Heavily Involved in the community, include volunteer work with the women’s group, the zonta club of stratford, and being one of the first three women to Join the stratford lions club. A Child of Dutch Immigrants, She Said She Learned from Her Parents that getting Involved was a great way to build connections.

“My Parents Were Always On Some Committee at Church or Organizing Something, So that’s Just Something that was always part of my life. And then Coming Back to Stratford and Really Not Thinking that I was Ever Going to End Up Back here, I Needed to Find a Way to Re-Establish Some Connections and Meet Some People.
“So Getting Involved in Different Organizations was just something that i logically did,” she said.
But with her success, she said she has been responsible for a back. She has Carried that Sense of Local Responsibility with Her Over the Past 12 Years With Her Business by Sponsoring Community Events, Such As the United Way-Helmed Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser and the Stratford Perth Museum’s Innkeepers Dinner.
“Volunteerism is the pillar of any successful community, so that was really one of our core values from the beginning,” she Said.
The Stratford & District Chamber of Commerce 2025 Business Excellence Awards Gala is Schededuled for Thursday, May 1, at the Best Western Plus Arden Park Hotel.
