Dadgostar after the meeting: not agreeing on renovation

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson held a press conference after the meeting with the party leaders on Friday. There he noted that the party leaders are largely united on the issue of Swedish support for Ukraine, and that the Swedish defense must be refurbished.

That picture also shares the Social Democrats party leader Magdalena Andersson, who believes that the meeting was “serious and good”.

– There is a broad consensus on the most important issues, namely in support for Ukraine and wanting to equip our country. On the other hand, I think it is important that we show action now, that we quickly start and see what we can make an appointment, she afterwards to TV4 News.

Dadgostar: Need to put us together

At the same time, the Left Party’s Nooshi Dadgostar says that the parliamentary parties do not agree on what the renovation should look like.

– It is about everything from large investments in infrastructure, roads, but also healthcare and the military defense, she says and continues:

– I would say that we do not agree on this, but we need to sit down together and look at what abilities are needed to strengthen Sweden as a country.

She believes that changed budget rules are required to implement a robust upgrading, and that what she calls the “investment brake” in the Swedish economy must be removed.

Today there is a surplus target in the state budget, which will be converted into a balance goal in 2027. These are all parliamentary parties except V and MP agree on, which TT has previously reported.

-von der Leyen in Brussels has said that they want to change the budget rules at EU level to free funds for European countries to equip. Now Sweden needs to do it, otherwise this will not be feasible, she says.

Helldén: Need investments in the infrastructure

Daniel Helldén, language pipeline for the Environment Party, says that he also raised investments in the infrastructure in discussions about Sweden’s upgrading.

– We need investments in national infrastructure, health care not least, but we must not forget the climate crisis in this context.

He also wants to see changes to the budget rules.

– We need to change the rules so that what we need to do in the military perspective does not knock out what we have to do at national level to get a robust society, he says.
