A bomb found at Gare du Nord, the threat has been present for years

Rail traffic is stopped this Friday, March 7, at the North Gare. The largest station in Europe is the subject of an unusual bomb alert. Workers discovered the explosive device, several decades, on the night of Thursday to Friday announced the SNCF. The bomb is “in the middle of the tracks” in the town of Saint-Denis, just 2.5 km from the quays of the Gare du Nord. The object measures more than a meter long according to the details ofHere Paris Île-de-France and weighs 500 kg, including 200 kg of explosives.

The bomb found on the tracks is none other than a machine dating from the Second World War and having never exploded. A demining operation is underway and the SNCF warns that traffic “can only resume after the end of [ces] operations “. The procedure should last until the end of the morning and cause disturbances at least so long.

As a security measure, all trains are stopped this Friday morning at the Gare du Nord. No TGV, RER or TER circulates. On the RER side, lines B and D are cut between the Stations Gare du Nord and Stade de France stations. The Transilien H and K lines are also affected: the terminus of line H is postponed to Saint-Denis and the trains on line K do not exceed the Aulnay-sous-Bois stop. The discovery of the bomb also upsets the circulation of Eurostar: all these trains are confused to Marne-la-Vallée station (Seine-et-Marne).
