For Emmanuel Macron, Vladimir Putin is a “revisionist imperialist”
French president Emmanuel Macron accused his counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday of being a “revisionist imperialist” who, according to him, “a historic counter-sens” by comparing him to Napoleon. “Napoleon led conquests. The only imperial power I see today in Europe is called Russia,” he said. “It is a revisionist imperialist in the history and identity of the peoples,” he added before the press, after a European summit in Brussels.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had regretted, earlier in the day, that “there are still people who want to return to Napoleon’s times, forgetting how it ended”, in a spike apparently addressed to Emmanuel Macron.
