For a moment it looked like Kevin Costner was delivering his last big western work with Yellowstone. The series launched in 2018 turned into one of the most remarkable successes in his career. But then Costner left production and devoted himself to an even larger project: the Horizon saga.
After he had already danced epic western like the one with the wolf and brought the open range onto the screen, costner plans one twelve -hour saga. Last year the first part started in the cinema. Now the film has arrived at Amazon Prime in streaming subscription. But what’s next? We have all important information for you.
When is Horizon part 2?
Originally, the sequel was to appear shortly after the Saga kicked off. However, since the first part flopped, the theatrical release was postponed. As a result, April 3, 2025 was announced as the new theatrical release for Horizon 2. However, this is no longer up to date. Instead, the film was postponed again.
It is currently unclear when Part 2 of the Horizon saga is coming to the cinema. It would be conceivable that the German rental, Tobis, decided to publish the film in a similar period to the predecessor. That would be August 2025. So far, however, there is no official information on the new start of the sequel.
How continues the story in Horizon 2?
We are still in the time of the American Civil War. After the settler Frances (Sienna Miller) lost her husband and son in an attack by the Apaches, she returns to the place of her pain. Lieutenant Trent Gephart (Sam Worthington), Frances’ New Love, meanwhile sets off to serve in the civil war and jeopardizes his life.
Frances Schwager Owen (Will Patton) follows the settlers through the prairie and hopes to find a home for his three daughters in the distant Horizon. The leader of the group, Matthew van Weyden (Luke Wilson), has strayed from the way. The settlers are not the only ones sitting in the trouble. Marigold (Abbey Lee) and Hayes (Costner) are also in a dangerous situation.
The Sykes did not give up the persecution of the two. In particular, Caleb (Jamie Campbell Bower) does not want to let her get away. But what he does not know is that the paths of Marigold and Hayes have separated. Hayes hires as a foreman in a loading station for horses. Marigold finds a hiding place in a hotel. And then there would be the property speculator H. Silas Pickering (Giovanni Ribisi).
How many parts of Horizon are there?
Overall, Kevin Costner plans Four Horizon films. Two have already been turned off, the other two are still in the hover. The reason for this is the missing budget. After Costner has invested $ 39 million of his own assets, he is currently looking for new money for the implementation of the mega project.

Is Kevin Costner’s Horizon saga a flop?
Since only one film has officially started in the cinema so far, this question has not yet been clearly answered. The start of the first part remained far behind the expectations. According to Box Office Mojo, it was only able to record almost $ 39 million. The production costs meanwhile amount to $ 100 million, i.e. around 50 million per film-at first glance a flop.
The hope is that Horizon will find a larger target group in the home theater. Streaming evaluations can significantly increase the popularity of the saga and provide additional income and more interest in the theatrical starts of the sequels. For the time being, however, it is important to wait for part 2 in April. After that we will hopefully find out whether Costner can complete his saga or not.
