The politicians rage over Arla’s dairy farmer “Hamid” – here he is

The back of Arla’s milk packaging is often adorned with different games, clings or recipes for snacks. But it is a back that received a little more attention than usual.

It is the dairy farmer Hamid who needs help from driving his tractor and asks the reader to find the right path to the barn. The headline reads: “Help Hamid Run”.

Aroused strong reactions

But the name choice has received several reactions. Especially at X where politicians are raging, which Expressen was the first to write about.

“What is it about our Swedish companies today that should be so” inclusive “,” writes SD politician Maria Rosander at X And wonder why the farmer is not called “Bengt, Ulf or Sune”.

“Go Woke Go Broke Arla Sweden?”, Writes SD’s MP Jessica Stegrud at X.

“It is not the easiest to saddle up to something as Swedish as a dairy farmer. Find the milk farmer Hamid! ” writes Hanif Bali.

The milk boy Hamid is found

One who followed the discussion is 24-year-old Hamid Ataei. He was born in Afghanistan but now lives in Tranås. Today he is active in the Liberals and plugs political science in Linköping – but it has not always been his everyday life. For seven years he was a boy at an Arlagård outside Tranås, which he caught his eye after a study visit.

– It started in 2017 when we were visiting a farm. Then I thought wow, I would like to work here if I get.

And he got that. The work day started before the sun rose and there was always something to do.

– I got up three in the morning to milk. I got into the process and could handle a barn with over 300 cows, Hamid says.

The very best thing was when he had to release the cows in the spring and see how happy they were.

– It was very varied and you were in nature. To pick up the cows in the summers, that was the most beautiful thing to see. To see when a cow calves, walk and milk. Things happened all the time, it was educational.

“Does not help the inclusion”

And Hamid is not alone. He says that he has several other friends who are also foreign -born and have worked on farmhouses. After reading the politicians’ comments on social media, he urges people to read more before they make a statement.

– It does not help the inclusion of people who come from other countries, says Hamid.

He believes it is about “ignorance” and thinks that politicians should focus on other issues.

– Is this the biggest problem, that the name Hamid is on the milk package? I think we should turn to the problems we have in society. How should we include so that everyone feels like part of society?
