The countries intend to increase cooperation in, among other things, agriculture and nuclear development, says the Russian Prime Minister Mikhailin Mishustin. Both countries are subject to international sanctions.

“Despite the sanctions set on our countries, our cooperation is developing favorably,” Mishustin said.

According to Mishustin, Russian companies intend to invest in the Dawei Special Economic Area, which is planned for the Andaman Sea shore in southern Myanmar.

Myanmar’s military director rarely travels abroad. Travel restrictions have been imposed against the country’s leadership, for example in the EU.

Min aun g hlaing also meets the president Vladimir Putin.

Myanmar has been in political mess since the soldiers captured full power four years ago. The civilian administration led by Aung Sanen, chosen by Suu Ky, was marginalized. The Western countries have interrupted cooperation with Junta supported by China and Russia.
