Several Google Chrome supplements have stopped working after a new update. One of them is the popular ad blocker Ublock Origin.
Google Chrome has received a new update in the days that gives it a new additional standard, Manifest V3. It should, according to Google, be both safer and more private, something even The Verge reported on.
The update means that all Chrome supplements based on the previous standard, Manifest V2, can no longer be used.
ublock origin shuts down
One of the extensions that now stops working is Ublock Origin.
The supplement has been downloaded over 39 million times and is thus one of the most popular services to avoid seeing advertising on the Internet.
The Ulock users who have updated Google Chrome should have received a pop-up message that says the extension has been shut down and is no longer supported.
The extension has also been removed from the Chrome store.
So do you use ublock origin anyway
But it is not quite over for Ublock Origin.
At the time of writing, it is still possible to use the service, which Android Authority Be the first to pay attention.
All you have to do is go to Chrome’s settings and choose “my extensions”. There you can easily activate Ublock Origin again.
However, it is only a matter of time before the supplement stops working completely. Then the only solution will be to switch to another ad blocker or browser.
