Johan Olsson’s opinion on the union’s slant with Alvar Myhlback

Alvar Myhlback enrolled in the history books last Sunday when he won the Vasaloppet.
Just a few weeks earlier he was nobbing by the ski association and was not allowed to compete in JVM in cross -country skiing.
-I would have taken out Alvar Myhlback if I had been the national team, says Viaplay expert Johan Olsson to the Sports Bible.

It was a big snack ice cream a few weeks ago. The Swedish Ski Association chose to noble the super talent Alvar Myhlback18, in the JVM selection, even though he won two golds the year before. This was because he did not travel the necessary qualifying races that the union requires the riders to carry out.

Johan Olsson defends Alvar Myhlback

There was no cannon for Sweden in JVM, in the U18 category. Add to this that Myhlback, which has only invested in long -distance races and Ski Classics since the debacle with the ski association, won the Vasaloppet on Sunday. With the facts in hand, it was a real slant to poke him.

One of many who reacted strongly to the decision to set over Alvar was the former Olympic gold medalist, now Viaplay expert, Johan Olsson44.
– It’s two. I think … A starting point is that if you are selected for a senior world cup (he was selected in Lillehammer) then you should be able to feel that: “I am ready to go to the junior World Cup,” he tells the Sports Bible.

Olsson understands Myhlback’s bet

The ski association does not like that Alvar chooses to go long -run in parallel with the investment in traditional cross -country skiing. He prioritizes going long at senior level over the qualification race for young people in cross -country skiing – it does not benefit him completely.
– I also understand his situation, given Lager 157. It is his salary simply. He needs to go ski Classics-race to be able to drive around his investment, I have full understanding of that. Then that the Ski Association says that you have to go this competition, which collides with a long race competition … I probably could have thought, given that he is a junior world champion, selected for the senior world cup earlier in the year, that he should be ready. That’s my opinion, says Johan Olsson.

– I would have taken out Alvar Myhlback if I had been the national team captain. I also understand the signal value of saying that everyone should go that race and we do no exception, but I myself am not a fan of not making any exceptions. In that case, they should have done so, he continues.

Sure it was fantastic that Alvar Myhlback won the Vasaloppet as the youngest ever! He is a really great talent, you can say.
