William Poromaa won 20 km classic in Les Rousses a few weeks ago.
Now the ski icon Per Elofsson believes that the Swede can take a medal in the World Cup.
– He can be there if he has a good day, he tells the Sports Bible.
So far, there have been no Swedish medals for the gentlemen in the Trondheim World Cup. Jonna Sundling30, and Ebba Andersson27, has made sure to pick a total of three medals for Sweden – now it’s time for William Poromaa; 24, Edvin Anger22, and Calle Halfvarsson35, to perform!
Don’t believe in medal for Edvin Anger
Edvin Anger was one of the advance favorites in the sprint and he had the second fastest time in the prologue after the giant Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. He, on the other hand, only went on as “Lucky Loser” in the quarterfinals and in the seminar it became respite. No other Swedish managed to perform in neither the sprint nor the skiathlon.

Per Elofsson hopes for Poromaa
Per Elofsson, on the other hand, believes that William Poromaa could take a medal for 10 km classic. Just a few weeks ago, the 24-year-old won his first World Cup competition ever-then it was 20 km classic in French Les Rousses.
– On the other hand, Poromaa has better opportunities I would say. If you look at the weekend that was (when he won the mass start in Les Rousses) he also had very nice, very nice skis and that is also a prerequisite. Then he is not extreme on a spurt. I have a little trouble seeing that he is able to join in at the end of the tough paths. I think it will be a little too tough. Especially on skiathlon, but at 10 km classic he can be there if he has a good day, he says.
Poromaa took a World Cup bronze in the five-mile in Planica 2023 and knows what it takes to take a championship medal. Elofsson believes that can be a key for him in Trondheim. A secret weapon for William Poromaa in the future.
