Per Elofsson about the detail that can decide for William Poromaa

William Poromaa won 20 km classic in Les Rousses a few weeks ago.
Now the ski icon Per Elofsson believes that the Swede can take a medal in the World Cup.
– He can be there if he has a good day, he tells the Sports Bible.

So far, there have been no Swedish medals for the gentlemen in the Trondheim World Cup. Jonna Sundling30, and Ebba Andersson27, has made sure to pick a total of three medals for Sweden – now it’s time for William Poromaa; 24, Edvin Anger22, and Calle Halfvarsson35, to perform!

Don’t believe in medal for Edvin Anger

Edvin Anger was one of the advance favorites in the sprint and he had the second fastest time in the prologue after the giant Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. He, on the other hand, only went on as “Lucky Loser” in the quarterfinals and in the seminar it became respite. No other Swedish managed to perform in neither the sprint nor the skiathlon.

It was in the sprint that indicates had its greatest chance to pick a World Cup medal. The ski icon Per Elofsson47, which himself has taken World Cup and Olympic medals as a cross-country skier, also believed in a medal for Anger there. Now, on the other hand, he thinks it is run for him.
– I think the tracks and terrain are a little too tough. He is a pretty big guy and he is going to drag that weight too, up. I have a little trouble seeing him keep up, he tells the Sports Bible.

Per Elofsson hopes for Poromaa

Per Elofsson, on the other hand, believes that William Poromaa could take a medal for 10 km classic. Just a few weeks ago, the 24-year-old won his first World Cup competition ever-then it was 20 km classic in French Les Rousses.
– On the other hand, Poromaa has better opportunities I would say. If you look at the weekend that was (when he won the mass start in Les Rousses) he also had very nice, very nice skis and that is also a prerequisite. Then he is not extreme on a spurt. I have a little trouble seeing that he is able to join in at the end of the tough paths. I think it will be a little too tough. Especially on skiathlon, but at 10 km classic he can be there if he has a good day, he says.

Poromaa took a World Cup bronze in the five-mile in Planica 2023 and knows what it takes to take a championship medal. Elofsson believes that can be a key for him in Trondheim. A secret weapon for William Poromaa in the future.

Do you think it can give him anything that he has already picked a World Cup medal before? And that it strengthens him in any way?
– Yes, it is clear that it is good, especially to get that you can be the fastest. That you have it in the back of your head. It’s like a psychological barrier. That you yourself, and above all, do not have to believe, he knows that when it is true and the skis is there he can be at the top.

How do you think it goes for William Poromaa, Edvin Anger and Calle Halfvarsson in the World Cup? Could it be a medal for the gentlemen in Trondheim? Feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts.
