Biathlon: Sara Andersson takes silver at the junior World Cup in biathlon

At the first shooting, the 22-year-old from Mora had a lead with seven seconds against Österican Anna Andxer.

Thanks to a flawless shooting, she also gave the chance to secure a World Cup medal on the sprint over 7.5 kilometers for older juniors.

– This is the disadvantage of starting early, but it was nice to be able to make your own race, she tells SVT.

Sara Andersson already has an European gold, a relay victory in the World Cup and several JVM medals (including a gold) on the track record.

But for the second shooter, Andxer went up in the lead by three seconds, while they both boomed each shot.

“Don’t think you go fast”

By then Andersson had already finished with a leadership, at the same time as the biggest competitor remained in the track.

Andxer was then 8.9 seconds faster than Andersson (19: 21.9) in goal, which then had to hang on the medals.

– It’s a good race. I am very satisfied. 90% in shooting is approved. It’s heavy before so you don’t think you go so fast, but I’ve gone strong today.

At the same time, the riders continued to go to the finish after them and Andersson secured the silver. Sweden’s first medal during the Junior World Cup at home in Östersund.
