Toyota develops Land Cruiser according to the brand’s uncompromising principle Kowashikiri – The car is tested until it breaks and then built even stronger
Precisely that thinking permeates the whole car and is the reason why Toyota Land Cruiser is the Go-to choice for, for example, the UN and those who want to drive from northern cap to South Africa.
The new Land Cruiser 250 follows the increasingly popular retro-inspired design trend, like competitors Mercedes G-Class and Land Rover Defender, a trend that the undersigned truly appreciates.

Atlas Mountains meet Toyota Land Cruiser
Our journey began in Ifrane, a city with French ancestry from 1951, the same year that Land Cruiser came to the world.
Here, donkeys and horses with new cars are gathered on roads that change from mirrored asphalt to substrates that can be easily confused with Mars.
Expedition Atlas – the official name of our adventure – took us over dirt roads, trails beset with sharp stones and through mountain passes.
Although many associate Morocco with sand, the journey offered a varied terrain and unexpected elements. Along the route we passed tent camps where local sheep shepherds were located.
Under the bonnet hides a 2.8-liter diesel engine of 204 horsepower and 500 newtons, linked to a new eight-speed automatic box. The engine delivers power enough to cope with most obstacles, although the soundscape is more reminiscent of a tractor than a premium cart.

Technology for the sake of accessibility
The Land Cruiser 250 is full of technology that makes even the most challenging terrain easily accessible – the idea is that any gossip should be able to make a little everywhere.
The crawling assistance assistance keeps steady speed in steep parts, crawl control acts as a cruise control for severe surfaces, and a 360-degree camera lets you “look through” the car to easier to avoid obstacles. All functions were thoroughly tested on a terrain track, where instructors guided us through each step.
The robustness is also permeated on the inside. (Photo: Toyota)

After the test track we continued south on our own. Morocco’s Vagen Park is a potpourri of modern cars in the cities and French engine -historical eye candy in the countryside, there Renault 4 And Peugeot 205 still reigns.
Horse and carriage remains a regular means of transport, and the roads are bordered by police checks where a friendly smile is usually enough to be waved on.
When we reached the asphalt again, we were struck by how comfortable Land Cruiser is also on ordinary roads. Despite the terrace tire, the sound level in the compartment is low, and the suspension swallows bumps with good looks. However, the steering is typically off-road-adapted, which means a certain inertia that requires more input on winding roads.
As we approached the Atlas Mountains, the landscape changed again. We passed forests filled with monkeys and open plains before we started the last climb up rocky paths.
With the low gear in and full control over all the car’s systems, we slowly but surely got upwards, while the cliffs next to us became more steeper.

New Toyota Land Cruiser is based on a long tradition of robustness and reliability. At the same time, comfort has been raised, the design has become more appealing and technology more advanced than ever.
The model truly calls for adventure and is far more competent than the common one needs. That being said, the feeling of being able to go anywhere, at any time, is extremely appealing. The car certainly strikes a blow to the freedom of the car.
The new Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is an impressive feature of the terrain -off segment and shows that the Japanese still have the grip on the market.
