See Stina Nilsson decide the Vasaloppet in the player above.
It has become a couple of pallet seats in Ski Classics so far during the winter.
But in the Vasaloppet she took the lead almost from the start. For already after eleven kilometers, at Smågan, she had several seconds down to the Norwegians Anniken Geerde Alnes and Silje Öyre Slind.
– I thought they would keep up, but I found a good boy, says Nilsson.
In fact, the former Olympic gold medalist in these contexts is something of an unwritten card.
But at the multi -bodies, the Nilsson led the women’s class by one minute and 20 seconds.
– It’s surprising, says Jörgen Ulvang in competing team Engcon.
She then expanded at Risberg.
At 48 of the 90 kilometers, the lead was a full three minutes and she increased on it steadily even to Evertsberg.
– It feels totally sick. It was a struggle. I’m so tired in my arms, says Nilsson.
“Leaves everything and everyone behind them”
With 23 kilometers left, at Oxberg, Nilsson led with 4.48 and Jacob Hård praised her.
– She is relentless. What race she does … there is no rider who can catch Stina Nilsson, incredibly impressive, says SVT’s Jacob Hård.
SVT’s expert Anders Blomquist:
– She has swept clean, left everything and everyone behind her.
With just over a mile, before Eldris, she remained unharmed and had a lead of six minutes.
Stina Nilsson reveals the case
Thus, she was able to defile in goal as the winner in the women’s class (105th total) at the time 3: 54: 00: 6 full five minutes before the nearest competitor. Nilsson then received the audience’s cheer at home as she lives between Sälen and Mora.
– Fantastic, even though I wasn’t sure. I did not expect anything to be clear before the finish line. I didn’t want to take anything out in advance. I’m not a favorite today.
After finishing, she also revealed that she fell in the starting slope.
– But I’m so happy to be able to do this in the Vasaloppet … with the start, all the guys, I fell … I’ve been so nervous!
The Norwegians Anniken Gjerde made Alnes finished second and Silje Öyre Slind third, 5.10 and 5.11 after Nilsson.
