Zelenskyj: Respect Trump – not sure we were wrong

A meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyj, Donald Trump and US Vice President JD Vance to the world’s journalists degenerated into a quarrel where Zeleskyj was baked by Vance and later Trump to be disrespectful and ungrateful.

A subsequent press conference between the two presidents was canceled, but Volodymyr Zelenskyj commented on the quarrel in an interview with American television channel Fox News.

– I respect the president and I respect Americans. I think we need to be very open and very honest and I’m not sure we did something wrong, says Zelenskyj.

“Hard without the United States”

The Ukrainian president goes on to say that Ukraine is ready for peace, but needs to be in a strong position. He clarifies that this means that the military needs to be strong, that the country’s partners need to support Ukraine and that you get security guarantees.

On a question about Ukraine can win the war or hold back Russia without the United States, Zelenskyj responds that it will be difficult.

– That’s why I’m here, that’s why we’re talking about future negotiations. It will be difficult without your support, but we cannot lose.

But Zelenskyj does not believe that relations between the US and Ukraine are beyond rescue.

– Our relationships are more than two presidents. There are historical, strong ties between our countries.
