He was raised in front of rolling cameras in the oval room in Washington. In his home country of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyj is now lifted as “a lion” when he defended the country’s interests.

It would be a brief prominent prior to a contract signing between the US and Ukraine. Instead, the two presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyj ended up in a word riot that completely balled, whereupon Zelenskyj left the White House without neither an agreement nor a meeting.

But national, regional and local leaders in the country provide their full support.

The Chark Region Governor Oleh Synhubov praises him and believes that Ukraine needs a fair peace with security guarantees.

– Our leader, despite pressure, is stuck in defending Ukraine’s and Ukrainians’ interests, he says.

“A lion”

And among ordinary people, the support for Zelenskyj also seems to be firm. The pensioner and Kievbon Nataliia Serhiienko, 67 believe that Ukrainian appreciated Zelenskyj’s appearance because he “fought like a lion”.

Kievbon Artem Vasylliev, 37, believes that Zelenskyj was met by “total disrespect” even though Ukraine “was the first country to stand up against Russia”.

– We strive for democracy, and we are met by total disrespect against our warriors, our soldiers and the people of our country, he says.

“Not time for emotion”

The meeting between Zeleskyj and Trump was supposed to lead to a mineral agreement between the countries, which would secure US support for Ukraine towards access to, among other things, the country’s minerals.

However, Kiev’s mayor Vitalij Klytjko airs some concern. He hopes “that Ukraine does not lose US support, which is extremely important to us.”

“Today is not the right time for emotions, from both sides. We must find a common foundation, ”he writes on telegrams.
