New Caledonia free from dengue thanks to a bacteria introduced

It is a progress qualified as “enormous” by the authorities of the South Pacific archipelago: New Caledonia has succeeded in eliminating the dengue from its territory. No epidemic has taken place since 2019 thanks to Wolbachia, a bacteria introduced in mosquitoes and which prevents them from transmitting the disease.
