Emmanuel Macron announces reciprocal prices of the EU on steel

The EU plans to establish “reciprocal prices” on steel and aluminum, announced Emmanuel Macron this Friday, February 28, on the occasion of his state visit to Portugal. The French president said that Europeans would respond to the additional customs duties announced by Donald Trump earlier this week, if they are confirmed.

The US head of state announced Wednesday that European products would be “soon” of 25 % customs duties. “We have made the decision, and we will announce it soon, it will be 25 %,” said Donald Trump. This is the level at which Canadian and Mexican products should also be taxed from April 2, except change by then.

“We have to protect ourselves, we defend ourselves. And if in early April, (…) prices were put on European products”, “Europeans will have to respond, because we do not have to be weak in the face of these measures,” said Emmanuel Madcron.
