What speaks?
Trondheim’s World Cup set off with a giant surprise when Lauri Vuorinen Skiing World Championship bronze medal.
It was the first medal of Finnish men in sprint skiing.
Sports Expert Aino-Kaisa from the islands Vuorinen spoke after the sensational bronze medal of the Finnish skier.
Vuorinen had quite a day when he won his first round after two racing partners fell in the last curve.
In the final round, Vuorinen chose the outer edge in the final bend, and not the inner edge of the sloping.
He took the semi -finals elegantly. In both the semi -final and in the finals, Vuorinen pulled the last rise up the other side. It yielded results.
– Lauri has had a good tactical gaming eye and a good final, but now it has been transformed into a medal, Saarinen annoyed.
Surprise
The big Finnish sensation medalist was also a surprise on the opening day.
Lauri Vuorinen’s season has been very dual. Ruka immediately became a prize ranger in the traditional skiing sprint, but then it was harder.
– After Ruka’s prize ranger, it was thought that now she was leaving for Lauri. Especially when the saying is that Ruka can do well in the value races, Saarinen platform.
Then, however, the Tour de Sk became a squat and Vuorinen himself was amazed at his situation.
– It’s always a bad thing if the athlete does not know what the going is. Occasionally it went well and the rest was bad, sometimes we left worse and the rest came well, Saarinen describes Vuorinen’s difficult races.
Saarinen saw that even the other weekend in the World Cup, even in Falun, Vuorinen sometimes drifted into the wrong places.
– It’s always a bad sign. It tells you that the level of tune is not the best even if your fitness is good. Now Lauri surprised us all when he got all things.
Flop
Jasmmi Joensuu Has skiing through his life and leads the Sprint Cup in the World Cup, but this time he was ninth in the World Sprint.
Joensuu has certainly skied this season to the top six finals, but now there was no such investment.
– Jasm was expected to ski in the finals. He has been the safest finals skier this season, but now something happened.
– I don’t know if there was too much pressure or what. Then came the coagulation in the semi -finals, and Jasmi couldn’t get up, Saarinen estimates.
What on earth?
Next, skiing will compete in combination competitions. The men are off on Saturday and the women on Sunday.
Aino-Kaisa Saarinen wonders on Wednesday night Kerttu Niskanen a solution. Niskanen will get out of Sunday’s combination race because he wants to focus on Tuesday’s traditional skiing ten kilometers.
Saarinen considers Niskanen’s solution exceptional.
– Kerttu has always been such that he likes to go through the Games. Many times in the value races, it’s a good idea to open the race just in a combination race.
– It is a good idea to dismantle the value race so that your own main trip is not the first. In the combination race, Kerttu would also have had good seams because he has been in good shape and especially in free skiing, Saarinen is amazed.
In the previous two value races, Niskanen has fought for a medal in the combined race. Niskanen was fifth in the Planica World Cup and fourth in the Beijing Olympics.
What next?
Aino-Kaisa Saarinen hopes for more surprises from the Finnish Ski Team this weekend, as the service team has now appeared to be on the map and in a good stroke.
On Friday, skiing is celebrated on a break in cross-country skiing, but in the World Cup, there will be an interesting mixed team competition for the combined side.
Expert Petter Kukkonen Speculation of the Finnish World Championship medal in the early part of the season, but now sees more realistic investments among the top five or six.
– Probably Germany and Norway are quite overwhelming. Austria and Japan compete for bronze. If something happens to or on skis, Finland can hit a bronze struggle, Kukkonen described.
Kukkonen saw on the eve of the Trondheim World Championship on Wednesday that Finland’s surprise seams hide in the big level of women’s top young names.
This was already a bit of a taste when the women’s first personal race was surprising.
“A small surprise for medals is in a mixed team competition, but all athletes should succeed at the upper limits of their skills,” says Kukkonen.
