Another lunar lander, Athena with the drone Grace on board, is on her way to the moon. The task of Grace is to explore a pitch -black crater near the south pole of the moon.
It was postponed on Wednesday and will land on the moon on March 6, if everything goes the way, about 160 kilometers from the South Pole. Adjacent to the landing site is a 20 meter deep crater that is in constant shade – pure darkness. Down down, the drone, after a few experimental jumps, should jump with measuring equipment
The instruments it has should measure if there can be ice, that is, water, there. The researchers believe that the crater, and many similar on the moon, can be filled with ice.
It is Texasbolaget Intuitive Machines that has sent up the lander, its others. The company’s first moonlight last year, which was the first at all in over 50 years, was not entirely successful because the lunar lander broke a leg at the landing and ended up a bit on the sneak.
