Wim’s father was a metal turner at Demka, a large steel factory in the Zuilen district in Utrecht. Wim thinks he was not at the forefront of Bravoure during the strike, as a protest against the German occupier. “The metal turners worked in the front on the site, he was just one of the first to come out.” Yet he is proud of his father. That, together with many other men, he had the guts to protest against the Germans in 1941.
Not many people know it, but also in Utrecht was a February strike
