The Steam Next is currently running, in which various games present their demos and draw attention to themselves. One of these games is Mecha Break and his trial version alone is so popular that it can beat GTA 5 and Marvel Rivals. However, if you look at the reviews, it doesn’t look so good.
What kind of game is that? In Mecha Break you take on the role of a pilot who controls you – your appearances can be adapted at will. In various PvP modes you then compete against other pilots and fight for victory.
PVE like in Armored Core should not exist, but an extraction mode in which you can also compete against online players and NPCs. There are also several mech classes that offer different play styles.
Despite his niche genre, Mecha Break was able to reach over 300,000 simultaneous players – more than GTA 5 and Marvel Rivals during their peak times. One might think that the game is popular and even if the number of players speak for it, the ratings look very different.

Testers tear the game despite the good gameplay
What problems cause displeasure? If there are good reviews, they usually talk about the great gameplay. However, when it comes to the bad reviews, Mecha Break is torn. Monetarization and the anti-cheat are primarily criticized. The following can be heard in Steam’s comments:
As Vodal wrote, the game also has a kernel-level-anti-cheat-a system that digs up to the lowest level of your operating system. So the software has the entire power over your hardware. For many, this is already a deterrent signal. In total, the game is currently 7,798 reviews, of which only 34 % are positive – that’s why there is only the “largest negative” evaluation.
Is there another reason for the bad reviews? On Reddit, some fans discuss the bad reviews. According to them, there is said to have been a review bombing in China. The release was expected by many, but the servers had strong instabilities, the release was also incorrectly advertised and only a few players could participate.
