Luleå lost the rival meeting with Skellefteå and afterwards the players heard both one and the other.
Brendan Shinnimin raged against his own fans and screamed and made gestures.
“I sacrifice myself every night for them,” he tells NSD.
The rival meeting between Skellefteå and Luleå ended 3-1 and after the final signal a sensitive situation arose down on the ice, in front of Luleå’s home heel. One of the team’s big stars, the Canadian Brendan Shinnimin34, appeared to be gorm and waving the audience.
Anger toward Brendan Shinnimin
It turned out that Shinnimin was furious on their own fans. He ended up in an exchange of words with the stand supporters at Coop Norrbotten Arena. The team’s general manager Thomas Fröberg Don’t be happy with the player’s behavior.
– There is a lot going on during the match with some verdicts that we feel distinguished in and then there are emotions, and it sometimes boils over. There are feelings from our fans, they are committed and the hall boils. I love our audience, it is fantastic, and it is clear that we do not want that exchange of words. He doesn’t want that (Shinnimin) either, he tells Expressen.

Fröberg told me that the club does not plan to punish Shinnimin in any way, or break his contract. However, they will have a talk with him on Wednesday, when he calmed down. Some supporters thought he should have made his last match for Luleå, but so it will not.
It shouted shinnin to the luleå fans
In the evening, Brendan Shinnimin talked to local NSD. He then said he reacted to the fans bowing out the players and doing lots of “fuck offs” and other hand gestures. He also acknowledged that he himself said “fuck that” to the audience.
– Every time I put on my sweater, I am proud to wear the club mark and I fight so hard every night for these guys. I have appreciated everything they have done for the team and the city. And I give back through the way I play. I sacrifice myself every night for them. I fight everything I can and play with pride, he tells the newspaper.

Skellefteå has now won three of four derby meetings with Luleå this season. It was not appreciated by the home fan.
– I can understand that they are frustrated, but you do not bow to your own players. We went out and fought hard. Today we did not get the bouncers with us and that is so in some matches. That’s what I’ve loved to be here. We are against the world. We and the fans don’t care what others say. We do it for ourselves and the club brand. And we always hold together, says Shinnimin.
What do you think about the actions of the fans and Brendan Shinnimin? You may think what you want about the player, but he is undeniably a big SHL profile. Feel free to leave a comment on the Sport Bible Facebook page.
