For a long time, SOS Alarm has had the confidence to be responsible for the vital alarm number 112. To quickly answer the calls that come in is an important part of their work and everyone who calls 112 should get answers within eight seconds. In recent years, however, criticism has been directed at the alarm number having far too long response time.
In 2023, the OAG released one report where they examined the state and SOS Alarm’s handling of the emergency number and its response time. The report revealed that the goal of a medium response of eight seconds had not been achieved at any time between 2012-2022.

– The emergency number is Sweden’s lifeline and it is completely fundamental to quickly get answers when you alert 112 in an emergency. SOS Alarm has prioritized strengthening the basic activities and made a number of efforts to reduce the response times. I am proud that this work has produced results, says Madeleine RaukasCEO of SOS Alarm.

Therefore the response time has decreased
Since 2020, SOS Alarm has received increased state compensation due to pandemic and Sweden’s increased security situation. The increased compensation has enabled the company to focus on strengthening its operations by hiring and training more staff, investing in developing leadership and shaping new and more effective working methods. Overall staff turnover has decreased sharply and employee satisfaction has increased.
