The underwater telecommunications cable has been broken in Taiwanins Strait, and Taiwan has taken over the cargo ship in the area.
The broken cable runs between Taiwan Island and Taiwan’s Pescador archipelago.
The Taiwan authorities have begun an investigation into whether it was sabotage to break the cable.
The seized cargo ship is registered under the Togo flag, but its crew is Chinese citizens.
