Schibsted buys TV4

Schibsted Media has entered into an agreement to buy TV4 in Sweden and MTV in Finland from Telia Company.
The sales amount is SEK 6.55 billion.
– It is brand new so we will spend time talking about how to find good collaborations with TV4 and the rest of Schibsted Media, says Siv Juvik Tveitnes, CEO of Schibsted Media, in News Morning.

Schibsted Media is currently included, including Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Omni and Podme, and in the future also TV4.

– The emotions are very positive. Schibsted is an experienced publicist owner who, just like we believe in a strong local media in a media world that is becoming increasingly globalized, says Mathias Berg, CEO of TV4, in News Morning.

Then the viewers are affected

According to Berg, viewers will not be affected by the purchase in the short term.

– Since over time, there are other strong operations in Schibsted Media where there are certainly collaborations that further strengthen our opportunity to take us out to users in both Sweden and Finland.

At both Svenska Dagbladet and Aftonbladet, two newspapers owned by Schibsted, SPAR has recently been announced. But Mathias Berg says that the new change of ownership will not affect the plan’s plan in the future.

– During that trip we will continue to change our business, but it is not something that changes with today’s business, says Mathias Berg.

Telia sells

It has been on speech for at least a year that Telia would sell TV4. The TV deal has not gone any further since bought TV4 from Bonnier.

In connection with the fact that TV4 is now selling, the telecom operator makes a write-down of the value of the TV and media part of SEK 2 billion. Additional write -downs were made of SEK 900 million a year ago.

– I feel confident that this is a long -term solution for us as a company. Because this is an owner whose task is to invest in independent journalism, says Mathias Berg, CEO of TV4.
