Here, Tetiana’s mother calls from occupied the city – great concern for Trump’s proposal

Tetiana has lived in a small village in Norrbotten for almost three years, but her teenage sons still ask: “Mom, when will we go back to Ukraine? When can we meet Grandma? ”.

Tetiana’s hometown, Melitopol, was conquered by the Russian army two days after the beginning of the full -scale invasion. Her mother stayed there.

– We record the interview without showing my face because I don’t want to put my mother at risk, says Tetiana.

Interrogation after telephone call

The fear is not unfounded. Once, her mother spent three days in a cell just because she spoke Ukrainian on the phone.

Her phone was seized, all contacts were reviewed, and she was interrogated about each person in the call list.

– It’s horror. They want us to be afraid, that we shake off terror.

“Feel like we’re abandoned”

The recent political play around the war in Ukraine creates great concern.

– For three years, Ukrainians have lived in hell. And after these news, it feels like we’ve just been abandoned, Tetiana ties her fists. We really hope for Europe’s help.

On the other side of the front line says Tetiana’s mother:

– People bite and wait.

For her, Trump’s plan means a lifelong life during occupation. For her daughter, it is a crushed dream of returning home.
