A circular from the Mauritanian Interior Ministry has formalized the event. Morocco and Mauritania will open a new land border post to the chagrin of the Polisario Front. For Sahrawi separatists, this is equivalent to a form of recognition by Mauritania of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. But Morocco, for its part, ensured the support of the Sahel countries, which will benefit from access to the Atlantic with this new road.
