If you are used to extinguishing your television station every day, we advise you to avoid this a little too widespread practice.
Despite the rise of the Internet, television remains a very popular entertainment tool for the French. In 2023, the Statista site established that almost 92% of households in France were equipped with at least one television set. A figure that tends to be reduced from year to year (there were 98% in 2010), but which is still very high.
However, many consumers of TV programs do not really accommodate specificities related to their device. The majority of users are therefore content to turn on their TV, change program and turn it off once they no longer need it. If some will only pass their television in standby mode, others go so far as to cut the button allowing them to stay in standby. Others, more original and provident, can also configure their television so that it automatically goes out.
However, there is a way of turning off your television which is less recommended than the others. Especially since many users practice it by thinking of making an energy efficient and healthy gesture for the planet. In reality, they are likely to damage their television than anything else.
A television can continue to consume a little energy when it is only extinguished via the remote control. This is all the more true if you have a connected television, which can update your knowledge and therefore consume more without you realizing it. This is why some users now prefer to extinguish their television set by disconnecting it directly on the plug or multiprise.
A technique that can prove to be dangerous for your multipleist, but also for your television. The majority of modern TVs are rich in computer components and circuits. By turning off your device by directly disconnecting its socket, you may cause a dysfunction large enough to damage the TV.
TV owners with OLED image quality must be even more vigilant. The latter generally have specific programs to avoid screen burns (also called “burn-in”). By disconnecting them directly without putting them off beforehand, you risk strongly damaging the image of your television, seeing it unusable.
To properly turn off your television, it is rather recommended to go through your remote control beforehand. Once put on the lookout in this way, you can disconnect it if necessary. If you have a multi -ad equipped with an ON/OFF button, you can also use it rather than unplug your television, but provided you have assured that the latter had no updates to perform or was not in full activity.
