Alicia Möllerstedt Werdenfels and August Skog are soon ready with her police training at Linnaeus University. They say that the mass shooting in Örebro affected them, but that it has not changed their motivation to the profession.
– I’ll be out on my aspirant soon. It is important to be well prepared for how to act in such a situation, and also mentally, says August Skog.
– My motivation has not changed, but I feel it is important that I continue my education so I can make a difference in the future, if I were to be faced with a similar situation, says Alicia Möllerstedt Werdenfels.
Practice on deadly violence
The police work according to the method ongoing deadly violence, PDV, in serious events such as in Örebro. The tactics are based on the police to confront the perpetrator, so that the focus is removed from unprotected persons.
It is a method that is part of the training for the police students in Växjö.
– It is good that we can practice such things, but most focus is on the mental. Because you can practice many things outside, but you never know how to react in such a situation, says August Skog.
– You have to prepare for the worst conceivable, most likely scenario, says Alicia Möllerstedt Werdenfels.
