The Biathlon Worlds which took place from February 12 to 23 were almost perfect for the Blues.
An impressive recital. One year before the Milan Cortina Olympic Games, the French Biathlon team produced almost perfect Worlds with 13 medals, including 6 in gold in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). She obviously ends in first place in the medal board and equal her record obtained last year in November Mesto. Unfortunately, the record was not broken on the last day with a single medal, Michelon’s money during Mass Start Women.
The fortnight was still quite incredible when starting in the most beautiful way with the title on the mixed relay from the first race. Two days later, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, in difficulty this season, set the record straight taking gold on the sprint. The next day, Quentin Fillon Maillet, dismissed on the mixed relay, who takes bronze behind the untouchable Johannes Boe. On the prosecution, if Justine Braisaz Bouchet won her second individual medal with bronze, Eric Perrot won her first career with bronze on the pursuit. With a new title, Johannes Boe becomes on this occasion the most titled athlete.
The second week was spectacular for the Blues with first the gold medal on the individual women of Julia Simon with Lou Jeanmonnot in 3rd place. The next day, Eric Perrot won gold after a perfect race while Quentin Fillon Maillet takes bronze. Titled last year, the simple mixed relay composed of Julia Simon and Quentin Fillon Maillet retains their title on Thursday, February 20. The weekend ends in apotheosis with the victory on the Women’s Relay of the Blue, which crushed the competition while among men, France could not face Norway, taking second place.
