UTRECHT – In the Netherlands, more than 10,000 young people, all under 30, were homeless last year. That is three times as many as 10 years ago, despite efforts to reduce the number. The increase is caused by various factors, including a shortage of affordable homes, problematic home situations and psychological problems. One of those ‘Jonkies’ who ended up on the street is Giovanni Grunberg, he was 21 when he slept his first night on the street.
Young and homeless: ‘I slept everywhere. In a park, on a concrete plate or just a pub in the back ‘
