Biathlon: Elvira Öberg secured Sweden’s first World Cup gold

First a silver in the hunting start. Then a bronze in the women’s relay. And now a gold in the mass start.

Elvira Öberg ended the World Cup in Lenzerheide in the best possible way.

– It’s incredible! What competition, says SVT’s expert Björn Ferry.

In a chaotic mass start, Öberg was a bit after initially but then came closer and closer. Prior to the last shooting, several people struggled for the medals. Then Öberg shot full at the same time as the competitors swayed.

Öberg left the embankment alone and then saw a cluster chase her – without success. The victory to Elvira Öberg, her first individual championship gold and third medal in this World Cup.

After the finish, Elvira stayed in the target trap to wait for her sister Hanna who had a very stubborn day with a rifle and a damaged rifle. When Hanna then finished, last of all, she was able to hand over a Swedish flag to Elvira.
