(Finance) – With the start of the Meccanized Muccanized Partenope, the excavation of the Saginara Gallery started this morning in Campagna (Salerno), Lot 1a Battipaglia – Romagnano della New high speed/high capacity line Salerno – Reggio Calabria. The TBM –
About 130 meters long and weighing about 4 thousand tons, the Boring Machine tunnel (TBM) is equipped with 18 engines that generate a power of 10 megawatts and is the first of the four moles that will work for the creation of eight natural galleries present in the lot 1A Battipaglia – Romagnano. With a cut -screen head of the diameter of 13.46 meters, the TBM is among the largest used in Europe and will dig the 3 kilometers of the Saginara Gallery, between the municipal municipalities and Contursi Terme (SA), working 24 hours a day, seven Days out of seven, seeing over 100 highly specialized people employed.

The lot – Starting from the Battipaglia station, the new line extends for about 33 km in double track until it reaches the interconnection with the Battipaglia conventional line – Potenza. The track develops mainly in the gallery and viaduct, optimizing the insertion of the work in the area that will affect the municipalities of Battipaglia, Eboli, Campagna, Contursi Terme, Sicignano degli Alburni, Palomonte and Buccino, in the province of Salerno.

The project – The new AV/AC Salerno-Reggio Calabria line, divided into functional lots and also financed with PNRR funds, constitutes the continuity of a strategic itinerary for the connection between North and South and is an integral part of the European railway corridor Ten-T Scandinavia-Mediterranean . The work will allow to increase the levels of accessibility to the AV system for different areas with a high territorial value such as Cilento and Vallo di Diano, the Ionian coast, the high and the lower Cosentino, the area of ​​the port of Gioia Tauro e The Reggio area, in addition to guaranteeing a speeding of connections to Potenza, Calabria and Sicily and an enhancement of freight transport by iron to and for Gioia Tauro.

Speakers – The new AV/AC Salerno – Reggio Calabria line is among the strategic works of the Cantieri Parlanti project, an initiative of the FS group (with the companies RFI and Italferr), conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, under the Aegida of the extraordinary commissioner of government Lucio Menta. The construction sites of the FS group “speak” a simple, transparent and immediate language, shared with the territories, to tell their history and their mission and to make citizens and stakeholders more aware and updated on the importance of the works in progress.
