Wolfgang Pichler’s rock hard words to Swedish cross -country skiers

The biathlon must not end up in the same negative tracks as cross -country skiing in terms of competition and audience.
The play comes from demon coach Wolfgang Pichler.
– When I see cross -country skiing, I feel sorry for them, the German tells Dagens Nyheter.

The 70-year-old Wolfgang Pichlerformer Swedish national team captain-several times-is in place during the biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide and now works as a consultant for Bulgaria’s national team.

Pichler’s harsh words

It is part of the International Biathlon Association’s (IBU) effort to support less nations in the sport, DN writes. This is so that biathlon does not become like cross -country skiing – where a few nations compete.
– It is very important for biathlon. In Germany we saw (last year) how the Norwegian gentlemen dominated, with six at the top of the total … then the TV figures are obviously dropping. And also the interest, Pichler tells the newspaper.

The German certainly sees the hint at a similar trend in biathlon, but looks brightly at the investment in the worse national team and believes that cross -country skiing should learn from IBU.
– If you compare with cross -country skiing, we have a lot of audience, at all World Cup competitions, says Pichler and continues:
– But when I see cross -country skiing, I feel sorry for them. Often they compete in front of a thousand people.
