This product is ideal for eliminating foam in the lawn at the end of winter.
The end of winter is synonymous with returning to the garden, with the first gardening tasks not to forget to have a garden in good condition from the first days of good weather. Keeping the fresh lawn throughout the winter is not always easy, and having a dense lawn, green and without foam in the spring cannot be improvised. From now on, a key gesture is essential to guarantee a healthy lawn once the heyday returned.
Mousse can make your lawn maintenance difficult because it is considerably harming the health of the grass. Although the fertilizer can help revitalize your lawn, you will find that most will not work because the temperatures of the soil and air are too cold. There is a simple but essential treatment which makes it possible to effectively eliminate foam and strengthen the growth of strands of grass: the application of iron sulfate.
Over time, the foam invades the lawn due to humidity, the lack of nutrients and too acidic soil. This invasion prevents grass from pushing well and weakens the lawn, giving it a dull and irregular appearance. Iron sulfate is excellent for lawn, whether it is greening in summer, protecting in winter or killing the foam in the spring. It acts by drying out the foam, which blackens and dies quickly, allowing the grass to better flourish.
Gardeners can get iron sulfate in many stores like Truffaut, Jardiland or Castorama, or online for less than ten euros. The ideal is to treat the lawn at the end of winter or in autumn, when the foam is the most active. Here are the key steps for a successful application.
Choose a dry day but not sunny to avoid rapid evaporation of the product. Dilute iron sulfate with water (for quantities, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions). Sprinkle with a watering can for small surfaces or spray evenly on the lawn, insisting on the most invaded areas. Wait a few days: the foam will blacken and dry out gradually. Ravate the dead foam to allow the grass to breathe and promote its regeneration. Leave your lawn time to absorb the compound and avoid walking on it for a few weeks.
Iron sulfate is more effective when applied in dry and windless conditions. Light watering will accelerate absorption in the ground, but you can also spread the powder directly when the rain is planned, but beware, avoid torrential rain so that iron sulfate is carried away.
Also keep in mind that iron sulfate can leave rust spots on floor coverings. Be careful with stones, concrete, tiles and paving, but also to your clothes. If iron sulfate accidentally falls on one of these surfaces, rinse immediately.
