PeKa takes the lead in the womens basketball league finals

Peli-Karhut, who defends the Finnish basketball championship, is no longer victorious from the Finnish Championship gold. The fourth final will be played on Wednesday in Kouvola.

Peli-Karhut from Kotka, who defends the women’s basketball league championship, took the 2–1 lead in the final series against Kouvottar. PeKa won the Kouvola guests with their home parquet with points 74–64.

Kouvottaret won the opening series of the final series, but in the previous two matches, Peli-Karhut has taken a longer streak. Three victories are required for the championship.

In the third final, PeKa took advantage of his throw-in in the opening period and led by 12 points (25–13) after ten minutes. In the second quarter, however, Kouvottaret narrowed the gap to seven points.

PeKa increased the difference in the second half of the match to 20 points, but Kouvottaret fought hard. The Kotka team finally won with 74-64 points.

– We have emphasized the importance of the defense and today we succeeded well in keeping Kouvottaret at 64 points. Today, the scope of our line-up was also reflected in the final result, PeKan’s head coach Mika Hartonen commented on the screen broadcast.

Hostesses Zykera Rice put up 17 points in the match and Kouvottarien Sarah Toeaina 18 points.

PeKa has the opportunity to solve the championship on Wednesday in Kouvola.
