It is MP Patrik Björck (S) who wonders why Henrik Landerholm was elected national security adviser, when the prime minister became aware of the security risks he caused and why the Government Offices did not report the events that are now being investigated as carelessness with a secret task.
– There is a security department responsible for this kind of questions. I had no reason whatsoever to question, and still have no reason to question, their handling of this issue.
– I feel safe with this, says Kristersson.
Left after disclosure
Landerholm left his post at the end of January after Dagens Nyheter revealed that he repeatedly forgot secret or sensitive material in different places repeatedly.
– As for the times, it is my memory that I was informed on two occasions about what had happened, about the security department’s assessment, decision and actions, says Kristersson.
Kristersson has long been a friend with Landerholm who was hand picked to security advisers in the autumn of 2022. Landerholm also has experience of work as an ambassador, in the evacuation in Afghanistan and as headmaster of the Swedish Defense College, among other things.
Patrik Björck rhetorically wonders how the “security advisor became a security risk”?
– The close friendship with Landerholm explains the failed recruitment, says Patrik Björck.
Notified by the opposition
V, S, MP and C have KU-notified the prime minister for the long time it took before documents became public, if Kristersson’s friendship with Landerholm affected the government office not to report to the police and for how the recruitment of Landerholm went. The Prime Minister points out that the Constitutional Committee has already reviewed the recruitment and has not made any remarks.
Kristersson says he found out about the security risks when the Government Offices’ investigation was completed. Patrik Björck pushes the prime minister on the issue and wonders when it was and accuses the prime minister of not taking the issue seriously enough.
– The conclusion was, of course, that when a preliminary investigation started, the situation became unsustainable for a national security adviser, says Kristersson.
