15 inflatable football halls have collapsed in recent years, according to a new report commissioned by the Swedish Housing Agency, reports P4 Jämtland.
The reason is mainly the weight from snow which has caused the halls to collapse. This has happened in, among others, Ljusdal and Piteå, and as last in Karlstad in January this year. The so -called overpressure halls are supported by a constant overpressure from fans without supporting pillars or beams.
The Housing Agency is now investigating whether the building rules need to be changed. However, Tomas Karlsson, expert on design rules at the Swedish Housing Agency, does not believe the football halls will be banned.
– We are definitely not against development in any way, we just want everyone to be able to feel safe in these buildings, he tells the radio channel.
