From zero own doctors to almost full -mannered – the urology in Dalarna can handle without relay doctors

In 2019, the urology farm in Dalarna was completely dependent on hired relay doctors. Today, the situation looks completely different – in Mora no hiring doctors is needed at all and in Falun only one to two a week is needed.

-Today we have nine permanent urologists, including five specialists and four ST doctors, which is great fun. The goal is, of course, to completely avoid the rental staffing, but we also need to ensure that the working environment is good on the way there for our employees to want to stay, says Asbjörn Österberg, operations manager.

“Can keep surgery in Dalarna”

The reduced need for hired staffing provides both lower costs and better care results, according to the region.

– The fact that we now have permanent staff who can better take joint responsibility for the business makes a big difference. With the expertise on site, we can also retain important urological surgery in Dalarna, where we have previously been able to send patients and buy care abroad, says Asbjörn Österberg.
