Ten audio technicians go out in the journal quarter and criticize TV4 for the channel’s controversial publication of a clip from the school shooting in Örebro.
The day after the mass murder, TV4 News published a video from the event, filmed from within a toilet at Risbergska, where it is claimed that someone during ongoing gunfire is heard screaming “you will be away from Europe”.
According to TV4, this was reached by letting sound technicians filter the sound and then let “several people without prior knowledge” listen.
The data has been widely disseminated, both in Sweden and in foreign media, but have also been criticized from several directions.
Sound technicians question
In an open letter in quarter, ten experienced sound technicians question that it would be possible to hear what is being said on the recording.
“In this situation, a professional and knowledgeable sound technician had not said that with any precision it is possible to interpret the importance of the words that are expressed in the macabre video,” they write.
TV4 News responsible publisher Fredrick Malmberg claims to be completely safe with the publication.
– You should know that these two people we have analyzed this are extremely experienced. They work with sounds, it’s their job to hear what people say and make technical solutions to be heard better, he said in Saturday’s media in P1.
“Badly concerned”
The letter authors criticize Malmberg for suggesting that TV4 would have access to special equipment and expert knowledge that others do not have, which they claim is not correct.
“Many of us in our forum have instead been badly affected by the fact that our professional knowledge and professional chains seem to be used as an alibi for rogue and irresponsible click journalism,” they write.
