Further eleven women got the uterus improperly removed

The Academic Hospital in Uppsala has found another twelve cases where women were incorrectly diagnosed with cervical cancer in a follow -up review.
In eleven of the cases, the operation was also performed.

The hospital writes that the incident has been investigated and that a Lex Maria report has been prepared, which now includes a total of 45 cases of incorrect uterine operations that occurred between 2022 and 2024.

– We want to apologize to all women affected by this. It should not happen. We take this issue very seriously and have wanted to go to the bottom with the scope and what caused this. It is important that we learn from the mistakes so that this is not repeated again, says Johan Luggård, chief physician at the Academic Hospital in a statement.
