The largest MMORPG release for 2025 has just burst

The year 2025 is not marked by the large MMORPG releases and with Aion 2 the most important title is now lost.

Which release has burst? The MMORPG Aion 2 was probably the big title that all fans of the genre were looking forward to. The reasons for this can already be found in development:

  • With NCSOFT as a publisher and developer, experienced MMORPG developers work on Aion 2
  • The MMORPG is to be developed with the pretty unreal engine 5, which is popular with gamers
  • Over 300 employees should work on the project so that everything goes smoothly until the release

    • The MMORPG itself also sounds interesting. Aion 2 is the successor to the popular Aion and plays 900 years before. It has no class restrictions and should originally be increasingly addressed to an international audience. The focus was on story and PVE, while PvP was supposed to be available, it was only intended as an accessory.

    Now the release of Aion 2 in the west has burst for this year and complicity bears Throne and Liberty.

    First of all not a release in the West

    What has changed in development? So far, NCSOFT has always been communicated as the start date for Aion 2 on the NCSOFT. Now the developers have spoken publicly about the ongoing projects in their Conference Call with the company’s investors.

    They also talked to Aion 2: “As promised, the MMORPG Aion 2 should initially appear in Korea and Taiwan this year.” The MMORPG only appears in Korea and Taiwan and not globally, as previously assumed.

    When it will be so far in the West, on the other hand, it is only roughly known: “The global service of the game will be implemented in a short time based on the business experiences of Throne and Liberty.”

    What should that mean? If NCSOFT wants to go the same way with Aion 2 as with MMORPG Throne and Liberty from the same house, the MMORPG will run in Asia for a while before it comes to the West. At Throne and Liberty there were about 9 months between the release in Asia and the rest of the world (via ncsoft.com).

    For the western release, many game mechanics would also be adapted that make the MMORPG less time -consuming, and it would be ensured that there are less mechanics perceived as unfair than in the original version from Asia. The monetization of the F2P MMORPG could also differ.

    In Korea and Taiwan, marketing for Aion 2 is to start in the second quarter. Here we will be able to see for the first time what is behind the MMORPG.
