Microsoft has just published its monthly update for Windows and other software products. On the menu, safety faults, bug corrections and some scattered new features.
It is an immutable and well -oiled ritual: the second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft publishes its traditional Patch Tuesday, a set of fixes for its different software and especially Windows. And it is not surprisingly that the publisher has broadcast since Tuesday, February 11, its monthly delivery. As usual, she first fills safety flaws. And not just a little since there are 55, including two critical vulnerabilities of the Zero-Day type, which could be already exploited by hackers.
But, as often, the Tuesday patch also comes to correct bugs, while providing some improvements. Let’s say clearly: this multiple approach adds always more confusion among users, who no longer really know what is necessary, optional or even superfluous, Microsoft practicing a continuous update policy and not always well finalized, in particular for Windows 11 , which is increasingly similar to a laboratory with permanent experiments. Thus, the Tuesday patch in February arrives just a few days after the dissemination of an optional update (see our article) whose fixes it takes up. But not only, hence the confusion mentioned.
As always, documents relating to flaws corrected by the Tuesday patch refer to a Kyrielle of details that will only interest experts. No interest in private users of Windows, except for the curious who want to know more about the two corrected Zero-Day faults: the CVE-2025-21391 and the CVE-2025-21418two major vulnerabilities which lead to a “elevation of privileges” for pirates, by giving them the possibility of deleting files. Problems that Microsoft minimized by explaining that the risks are very low. But the publisher has also corrected other important flaws in Excel (CVE-2025-21381) and in Windows Server (CVE-2025-21379).
Tuesday patch of February 2025: corrected bugs and some small improvements
Microsoft took advantage of this patch to correct several annoying little bugs that appeared recently: in particular the problem of the mouse cursor which disappears from the text fields in web browsers based on chromium like Chrome and Edge, a bug which even caused a sort of stuttering From the cursor to the screen, as well as the concern that prevented ELS Audio cards and the DACs from working.
The Windows 11 update is also supposed to bring a few new products to the explorer. We can thus create a new folder directly from the explorer’s reception component, without having to open a file. But also memorize the layout of the open tabs in a window, as well as the opening of the folders in a new tab instead of creating additional windows. Unfortunately, and to add to the general confusion again, Microsoft seems to deploy these new features in a gradual way, despite the unified update, and we have not yet been entitled to these small improvements in our case …
On the Windows 10 side, in addition to the fixes, we especially have the automatic installation of the new Outlook (Outlook New), the new messaging application which comes to automatically replace the traditional mail and calendar software, rejected in oblivion, as on Windows 11, which is not to everyone’s taste.
In practice, the procedure to install the TuiteDay patch of Févier is very simple. As always, just go to Windows Update, via Windows settings, look for the availability of updates by clicking on the suitable button if they are not offered immediately, then click on the Install button or Restart now. Please note, as Microsoft obviously did not unify its names, there is never any question of Tuesday patch but of cumulative update. And, as always, you will have to restart the PC after downloading to launch the installation of the new version.
As always, the updates codes vary according to the version of Windows already installed.
- KB5051987 For Windows 11 24h2
- KB5051989 For Windows 11 23h2 Or 22h2
- KB5051974 For Windows 10 all versions
Please note, Microsoft also broadcasts Windows updates in the form of an independent archive, to be installed manually, on Its Microsoft Update catalog. We nevertheless advise you not to use this method which has caused a few damage recently, and to do everything in automatic mode via Windows Update.
We have not met any concerns following the installation of this new Patch Tuesday on different PCs, but it can be wise to wait a few days before updating, the time to see if some users signal Worried about forums, as is still too often the case, certain updates bringing new bugs. We are never too careful!
