I do not teach you anything, the MCU is today in an uncomfortable position. Since the end of the Thanos era, the departure of these main headliners, and the arrival of Disney+ which forced Kevin Feige and his teams to produce films and series in an industrial way, it’s a bit like Strong on the side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Decrease of interest, films that are planted at the box office, series ghosteum by fans even the most unconditional, there is still a large pebble which has come to get stuck in the cogs of a mechanical hitherto well oiled. However, not so long ago, just 5-6 years old, Marvel Studios had managed to build an unshakable empire, generating billions of dollars at the box office, making some filmmakers jealous, even the biggest, forced to spit Above to assert itself. It was the MCU bonus, this moment when Kevin Feige was walking on the water. But that was before. Before the tired superhero, before certain very questionable decisions and before Disney thinks that streaming would be more remunerative than cinema. We still had a few fans and beautiful surprises such as Shang-Chi, Dr Strange in the Multaveve of Madness, the guards of Galaxy 3 and of course the latest Deadpool & Wolverine, but nothing very concrete to relaunch the train Hype and initiate a new arc that can retain ancients as in the past. But this Captain America 4 marks the end of phase 5 of the MCU and the desire to start on a good basis with phase 6 and the fantastic 4 which will launch new real issues. Should we go headlong into the dark rooms? This is what we will see together …
Captain America Brave New World is far from being a simple project, because he has several objectives to fill, and everything in a film of 2 hours of time, it’s almost impossible mission. But by leaving the projection, there is still a rather positive note, that of saying that the MCU has taken up colors and that above all, it did not give a damn about our mouths, as was the case with Ant -Man 3, Thor Love & Thunder and The Marvels. The film may not be able to fulfill all its goals, but there is this desire to please that is quite palpable and that’s what you have to remember.
First thing to remember in this desire to reconnect with the good elements of the past, it is the geopolitical approach which is instilled in this film, as an echo at the Captain America Winter Soldier of 2014, rightly considered as one of the Best MCU movies. And it was obviously the best approach to have when you have a superhero that is not a superhero in the strict sense of the term. Sam Wilson is not Steve Rogers, it is even supported in the film, because he refused to inject the super soldier’s serum. Suddenly, he must just compose with his classic physical skills and his tools that he has available. This was already the case in 2021 with the Faucon series and the winter soldier, it is still in this brave New World, except that the threat took a completely different dimension. Because as much the flag-smashers in the series, it was something manageable, as much sink to Red Hulk, it is another delirium. And it is perhaps on this point that Captain America 4 risks making people talk. How can an ordinary guy like Sam Wilson face a thick brute that has become general Ross once transformed into red hulk? I will obviously not spoil the sequence for you, but it is certain that the debates will be stormy on social networks on this subject.
CAP and PETS
But Red Hulk is not the only opponent of our Captain America flying, there are two other threats: Sidewinder, leader of the Society serpent played by Giancarlo Esposito and Samuel Sterns, better known as The Leader and who returns in The MCU after 15 years of absence. It was the secondary villain in the film The Incredible Hulk directed by Louis Leterrier, an era when the MCU was not really launched yet, but Tim Blake Nelson obviously agreed to resume the role. Besides, I advise you to see Louis Leterrier’s film again, because this Captain America 4 perhaps considered to be a sequel to the Hulk of Louis Leterrier, or at least, it is the first time that the MCU induces officially The film within it, to the point where you will have a few surprises, but I say no more.
In fact, he is the main problem of this Captain America 4, it is to have multiplied threats and bad guys, so that it is difficult to give them all the attention it deserves. And it’s a shame because there was something to do with Sidewinder, the villain played by Giancarlo Esposito who is very convincing, even if we can blame him for making Giancarlo Esposito, that is to say the Actor confined to playing the bad guys at the Gus Fring of Breaking Bad. Tim Blake Nelson, on the other hand, is more behind, especially because of the writing of his character who spends his time hiding his existence and his look especially, before becoming the villain who is a place from one place to another as if by magic . That’s relou. Then remains Harrison Ford in general Ross Slash Red Hulk, who is undoubtedly the actor who surprised me the most. He is invested by his role, by his character and it shows on the screen and that is happy. He did not only take his check and makes the strict necessary, we really feel that he took pleasure in taking on the role. It is obviously the first antagonist, but I think that Marvel could have gone even further, in particular the final fighting scene, which is certainly satisfactory, but unfortunately too short.
Shame
And there is a reason that makes sense to the fact that the fight between Captain America and Red Hulk is shortened is that it is expensive to make scenes of fighting with Hulk. And for once, I find that they are successful. We find the Hulk which has unfortunately disappeared from the MCU for far too long. The character was nerve to death with Smart Hulk and we never found his power of yesteryear again. Well, this is the case with Red Hulk who really pulverizes everything in his path, and it feels good, especially since we feel that all the cash has gone in the modeling of Harrison Ford in Red Hulk. The character is really successful, very well modeled, to the point where Marvel does not hesitate to make close -ups on it. The only thing that is trying is the sets, especially this combat zone under the cherry blossoms that we had already seen in the many trailers. It was ugly in the trailers, it’s always awful to watch in the final film. Lighting, composting, rendering is really very ugly and it is to understand nothing to have such an important imbalance between a well -fucked up red hulk and so disgusting environments.
After this inconvenience which is still important, Captain America 4 generally offers satisfactory combat scenes, and I also very much appreciated the whole sequence with fighter planes with this titan that appeared in the Indian Ocean and that ‘We hadn’t seen from the Eternal. There too, Marvel Studios took a long time to find him an interest in the MCU and it is done, it is he who gives birth to Adamantium, an even more powerful material than vibranium and which suddenly allows Marvel to gently but surely introduce X-Men, especially Wolverine’s character. Besides, it will be a new actor to resume the role for sure, because do not get me wrong, it is not Hugh Jackman who will stack for the next 10 years. Deadpol and Wolverine, it was just to have fun, for fun and please Ryan Reynold, but the real new Logan of the MCU, the one who will eventually work with the Avengers, will never be Hugh Jackman, be sure … To return to the aerobatic sequence with fighter planes, we can also see a nod to Top Gun Maverick, with in particular a sequence which clearly refers to the film with Tom Cruise, but in a global way, making of CAP and the new falcon of fighter planes in themselves, it brings another dynamic. It’s very cool.
Under Pressure
In any case, Anthony Mackie is doing well in his new role as Captain America, which was not won. Personally, I have never found the actor very efficient, for me, I always considered him as a second -class actor, not the same bankable capable of bringing people to the cinema just by his name, but we Feel a real sincerity in his game. There is also an analogy between what he represents in the film, this relay between Chris Evans and the character of Captain America. This is exactly what he is experiencing IRL, this pressure to resume the role, he who has always been set back, who does not necessarily have the shoulders or charisma, and it is often repeated in the film. But ultimately, he is doing pretty well, just like Joaquin Torres, the new hawk, played by Danny Ramirez, who is a really cool sidekick to follow. There is a good dynamic between the two characters and the two actors who are felt on the screen. And that’s what I will remember from this Captain America 4, there is real sincerity, both in this desire to reconnect with the good films of the MCU of the past, but also this motivation to do well, with certainly the means From the edge, less explosive than a super powerful Steve Rogers could be, but we still have a good time. There are quite a few things to say, things that we could have improved, but at least, in 2 hours, the film has the merit of being well punctuated and not to pay for the spectator’s head as it was the Case with other Péloches like Ant-Man 3, Thor Love & Thunder and The Marvels. Come on, we forget these failures and we go ahead, because with the fantastic 4 galactus and the X-Men, there are still beautiful things to tell in the MCU. In any case, I believe it!
