Who’s Taking has leave?

Ward 5 coun. Jerry Pribil Announced Wednesday He’s Taking An Unpaid Leave of Absence Until Feb. 28 AT 5 PM, The Day After the Provincial Vote.

“It is the honour of my professional life to serve londoners,” he wrote in a letter to the city clerk posted on social media. “It is the UNWAVERING Goal to Give Back to a Community That Has Provided So Much to My Family That Has Pushed Me To Seek This Opportunity.”

The Letter Also Says An Unnamed Council Colleague Will “Step in and Ensure” His residents Recentation, and service from his office won’t be interrupted.

In Early December, Pribil was acclaimed as the progressive conservative candidate for the Riding of London North Center that has been help by the ndp’s terence Kernaghan for Two Terms.

Pribil also was the pc candidate in the same riding for the 2022 election, when he received 13,000 votes, about 30 per cent of the total, and lost to kenaghan who received more than 17,000 votes.

As of the First Day of the Provincial Election, No other council Member has been reporting their intention to run.


Do councillors have to do anything?

There is no rule requiring a sitting member of council to refinement in order to run for high office, but it is custamary for them to take a leave of absence. Councillors are Allowed to be Off the Job for Up to Three Consecistive Months Without Having to Re -Seign.

The opposite is not true However, as the Municipal Act States a Member of the Provincial or Federal Legislatures is ineligible to be Elected to or Hold Office on a City Council.

What Happens if a coucillor wins?

Given that mpps are ineligible to hold office on a city coucil, if a coucillor wins a provincial race, they are required to resign their coucil seat. There are Two Ways to Fill His Council Vacancy.
