According to Bert SundströmForeign reports at SVT, in particular, three countries that Putin want to make sure to have on their side. One of them is Georgia where the country has a powerful ally in Bidzina Ivanisjvili.
Although Ivanisjvili has only been prime minister between 2012 and 2013, he has a great influence on politics in the country. He has founded Georgian dream and is one of the richest people in the entire country.
– He is a warm ally to Russia and Putin. He doesn’t say it openly. He says Georgia should be independent and that the goal is still to join the EU. In practice, Ivanisjvili governs the country quite uncomfortable and that the goal is obviously to reintroduce Georgia in the Russian sphere of interest, says Bert Sundström in SVT.

Vladimir Putin wants to prevent the approach to EU
The other country that Putin hopes to strengthen the bands with is Armenia. They are previously members of the International Criminal Court, which means that Vladimir Putin would be arrested if he set foot in the country.
According to Sundström, Armenia President is still very engaged in getting Armenia in the EU.
Moldova is on the same line as Armenia. Despite this, they are also a country that Putin hopes will ally with Russia.
