There are several reasons why a lithium battery is starting to burn. Something that can happen to the battery is that it ends up in thermal rush, which means that the battery starts to heat itself and then the fire risk is great. If the lithium battery is broken, there is a risk that it will explode.
When a lithium battery starts to burn, a toxic gas spreads. Do the following:

Tips for reducing fire risk:
Temperatures – It is important that it is not too hot or too cold where the battery is charged. Moisture can also damage the battery. Where the battery is charged, it should simply be dry. If the battery is affected by extreme temperatures, it can cause the battery itself, which increases the fire risk.Damaged battery – It is important to be aware that the battery is not damaged. A battery also has its life and can be worn out. One sign that the battery is damaged is that it gets abnormally hot when it is charged. Although the battery is starting to swell is a sign that it is damaged and then the battery should not be stored indoors but be taken to a recycling center.Storage – Do you know that the battery will not be used for a while, it is important that it is stored in a dry environment and not in an overly cold place.Buy in the right place – It is important that the battery you buy is CE-marked and approved for use in Sweden. Hence, you should only buy batteries from places you confidence in.Leave the battery in the correct place – Do not store broken lithium batteries or pre -use at home. Leave at a recycling center.Source: The Swedish Electricity Safety Agency
