Several supermarket channels will proceed to the decay of their loyalty cards. Be careful not to lose money.
It is an automatic gesture for many French people, often made without paying attention. And yet it is not trivial. At the supermarket, when paying for cash purchases, most customers are not content to take out their bank card. Before that, another little piece of plastic appears: the loyalty card.
By scanning it, points accumulate, giving the right to rewards, or supplying a kitty usable later. Each brand has its own – Leclerc, Carrefour, Auchan, Monoprix, Casino, etc. – with various advantages to retain their customers. But be careful not to use them!
For example, at Carrefour, the loyalty kitty allows, throughout the year, to combine advantages. From 1er January to December 31, money is notably credited on this card, which can be used at any time in the checkout in order to lower the cart note. Please note, there is however a deadline to be monitored.
Indeed, the 14 million French people who have a loyalty card at Carrefour must use their balance no later than Friday, February 28, 2025. Passing this date, the euros cumulative in 2024 will disappear and will never be able to serve. Only those accumulated since 1er January 2025 will continue to appear and be usable.
It is the same at Intermarché. The brand also warned its customers that money accumulated on the loyalty card in 2024 should be used no later than February 28, under penalty of seeing it disappear. Similar calendar on the Casino side which also fixes the deadline for February 28 to use the prize pool on your loyalty card.
To find out the balance on your loyalty card, simply go to your personal online space, on the brand’s website, or simply request the amount during your next checkout. This is also displayed on the automatic boxes of stores.
